The hanging gardens of Marqueyssac

Walk in the hanging gardens of Marqueyssac

In Vézac, the hanging gardens of the Château de Marqueyssac are the most visited gardens in Périgord. Remarkable for its 150 000 box trees cut in a picturesque way, the park offers 22 hectares and 6 km of trails to walk, with unique views of the Dordogne valley.
At 800 m from the castle of the late 18th century there is a belvedere, which several routes through the gardens can reach.
Open every day of the year, the Marqueyssac gardens host several events throughout the seasons: egg hunt, candlelight evenings, land-art exhibitions, boxwood box demonstrations, musical evenings or children’s shows.
The site also includes a via ferrata along the cliff, accessible from April to November.
In July and August, you will enjoy introductory climbing classes, a park to go between the trees, and playgrounds for children.
DIY workshops of all kinds are also organized for audiences of all ages. Do not miss to visit the workshop of the turner, who works with dexterity boxwood.
Emblematic of the place, many peacocks are finally walking freely in the gardens, honoring you on the occasion of a wonderful wheel.
